Educating Through Storytelling

Equatorial Guinea's Bioko Island is the largest of the four Gulf of Guinea islands and the nearest to mainland Africa, situated about 19 miles (32km) off Cameroon. Home for rare primates, nesting sea turtles and an abundance of wildlife, Bioko provides the unique habitats required to sustain these highly threatened and endangered species.

In January of 2006, author Heidi Rader visited Bioko as a graduate student and expedition participant and again in 2008 and 2010 as a research assistant for the Bioko Biodiversity Protection Program (BBPP). The stories for the Bioko Island Book Series were cultivated from her experiences with the amazing wildlife, her interaction with the good people of Bioko, and her work with BBPP. The series, a collection of delightful and thought provoking reads for both children and adults; was created to foster an appreciation for the natural world and stress the importance of good conservation practices.

Wildlife Conservation Publishers

Educating through storytelling and the power of artwork, our books take the reader on an extraordinary and unique journey where cultures connect, and the wonders of the natural world are discovered.

It is our hope at Wildlife Conservation Publishers that our educational offerings will encourage curiosity and exploration, stress the importance of an education and inspire. Inspire not only the children of today, but also future generations to respect and appreciate nature, realize the importance of conservation and their personal power to make a difference.

As we work towards publishing new titles and educational materials, we invite you to enjoy the first book in the Bioko Island Series: Moon Over Bioko; The Sea Turtles of Bioko Island. Please visit the store page for more information.
